    The Drive Volley
Introduce the attacking Volley into your Tennis game

The Drive Volley is an important shot to learn so that it becomes a part of your Tennis repertoire.
This shot has become widely used particularly in the Women’s game at the higher level where it is more popular than the basic volley.

The Drive volley is an attacking shot which is usually played from around mid-court against slower, high loopy
Balls and used as a means to close in on the net.
The shot can be played as a Forehand or Backhand but many players prefer to play the Drive Volley on the Forehand side.
    The Drive Volley in brief
    • Use your preferred Forehand or Backhand grip

    • The shot is played at Shoulder height

    • The player should be on the move so the weight transfer forward through the shot will give power to the drive

    • The racquet is swung upwards through the ball to impart Topspin so as to keep the ball in court

    • The follow through should be long and finishing high so as to give control and power

    • After the Drive volley has been executed you should move forward to take control of the net if the ball is returned

You will also need to practice the tips above during your hitting and organised practice sessions so that this attacking Volley can become a natural part of your game plan.

I hope that the above tips will help you improve your Drive Volley so that you can take your game to the next level.
